Snuggle-Kins Musical Moves Stroller is now in stock at Fisher-Price for the low price of $20 and $5.95 shipping!
One of last year’s hot toys was this. It could be bought for nearly double the price on Ebay and now this year my Target couldn’t seem to sell the one they had on their shelf until a week ago.
I find this whole auction phenomena quite intriguing. Fisher Price has a Snuggle-Kins Musical Stroller that is sold out everywhere but parents/grandparents are paying as much as $120 for this $20 stroller on Ebay. You heard me right. A $20 stroller that will probably fall apart before the credit card bill arrives. So who really wants this stroller? The parents or the toddler?
Remember the Juicy Couture purse that Madeline’s friend’s mom bought her while shopping at Saks? The one I didn’t let her keep because I don’t think 9 year olds should have $95 purses. How will she ever be satisfied with a purse from Target if I start her out with couture?
I tried to give the purse back to the mom who bought it but she refused so I’ve decide to put it on Ebay. I don’t feel right keeping the money so I plan to use the money from the sale to buy items for the needy family we adopted this holiday season. Madeline does not understand that $95 is a lot of money for a purse. Hopefully her seeing what $95 can buy for a needy family will help her understand the value of money. Check out my listing if you are in the market for a Juicy Couture purse.
Here’s a short video of Madeline’s tap dance she performed at a Holiday Extravaganza last night. I’m quite proud of our future Rockette’s. It’s a very cute dance. They are dressed up like reindeer, Mr. and Mrs. Claus. If you’ve got little ones around they would probably enjoy watching it.
Enjoy!

Color me shocked, a friend gave her a $95 purse as a gift? Holy cow.
I don’t believe in must-have toys. I must-have food. Toys are wants.
We tend to get the kids good quality educational stuff. Because we are all dry and stiff and boring that way.
Oppenheim all the way.

I don’t even know what the must have toys are….I had never heard of the stroller and Olivia is obsessed with her baby dolls. Who’s the slacker mommy now? We don’t spend too much on the kids at Christmas time, they certainly don’t want for anything and I don’t want it to turn into “all about the gifts” so we do 3-4 presents and stocking stuffers.

that was so super-cute. I’m dying. dying.
as to the gifts? we’re just ignoring the whole thing, this year. (we can. we have a 2 1/2 year old. like he gives a rat’s ass. he’ll be stoked to open wrapped boxes full of air.)
best to you, honey-pot.

I floors me that people pay that much for something that will most likely get lost in the bottom of the toy box in a week! I remember the purse story from last year, I think that’s a great idea (donating the proceeds to a family)!
And — adorable video! I can’t wait until Katie is in dance!

I still can’t believe that mom will spend $95 for a couture purse for a child. There’s something wrong there.
The dance routine was absolutely adorable! Good job!

So cute! I love children’s dance recitals!
I’m with Julie - we try to stick to educational stuff for the kids. How’s that working? My youngest told me all that he wanted for Christmas was “a gladiator costume, a pocket watch, and a little something from Santa.” The 10 year old just wanted “some Roman playmobil figures and books about ancient history” I think I can fill those orders.

right on! I’m proud of you…as usual.
a $95 purse for a child is sick. seriously. that’s more money than sense.
Anyway, for what it’s worth, I’m proud of you…

$95 is too much to spend on a gift for a child who has NO idea (and shouldn’t) the work involved in earning it.
I saw a commercial where a mom was going to WalMart to buy an iPod for her daughter for Christmas. The girl in the commercial looked like she was 8 or 9 years old, 10 tops. I said to my BF “Am I the only one that thinks an iPod is too expensive of a gift for a child that young?”

I am on the eBay seller side of this issue - and I do NOT do the “crazy toy thing.” Ok, what is the “crazy toy thing?” Waiting to hear what the hot toy of the moment is on the 11PM news, driving out to the 24-hour Walmart at 2AM to buy 10-15 of them, and waiting for the optimal moment to list them on eBay to price gouge those parents who are trying to get that one item that their child really wants - that is sold out everywhere else.
I see sellers using this technique all the time. They are the ones giving all eBay sellers a bad name! I don’t think it is right to buy out the XYZ toy at your local Walmart so that you can profit by shipping it all over the world. I think that is kind of cruel to pull the rug out from underneath the people who live in your own community. Some things are more important than money.
That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it!
Cheers-

I am the mean parent who buys my kid a bunch of books every year. Only, he doesn’t realize that I am mean, because he loves books. I have him totally snowed! Bwa ha ha!
(Of course, that dang Santa does get him SOME fun stuff. Like, this year, I hear Santa is getting him two board games, a DVD, and, oh yeah, a full-sized electric piano keyboard with keys that light up to give lessons. But I would never get my child such extravagant things. From me, he gets only books.)

I love that you wrote this. Because I too have noticed the same thing. eBay is no longer the place for great deals around the holiday season.
Generally I really like eBay and have been able to get some great deals but I’ve noticed that people will jack up the prices of the hottest item/toy this time of year. It’s ridiculous!

Since I have two teenagers there are no more “must haves”. They want expensive stuff now which means they don’t get as many presents.
A $95 purse for a 9-year-old is one of the silliest things I’ve ever heard.

$120 for a $20 stroller?? ANd you’re right… it’s probably the parents rather than the toddler who really want it.

If you buy the “must have” toys when they are little….be prepared to buy the “must have” cars when they get older!!
Great what you’re doing with the purse!!

This year, I’m so safe that when they called to tell me Alex’s presents would need to be expedited to make it by Christmas I was all - eh, he’s not gonna know the difference - I’ll just give him some napkins and my cell phone and he’ll be just fine
